Nigel Upchurch Associates has designed a distinctive development that is appropriate to its magnificent setting on Headland Road, between Towan and Fistral beach.
Inspiration was taken from the physical landscape and the Cornish character inherent in the local architecture and has been combined with modern construction technologies. The height and form of the development respects the neighbouring built environment and demonstrates a synthesis of craftsmanship, creative style and integrity. The use of local stone and slate reaffirms the Cornish identity and provides a visual and textural contrast to the more modern materials.
The result is a striking contemporary development that relates to its context and fully appreciates the broad panoramic views across Fistral Beach, Newquay Golf Course and North over the Headland to Watergate Bay, the numerous Newquay beaches and the wide expanse of the Atlantic Ocean.
