Lacey Hickie Caley Architects have designed a bold landmark development using a varied palette of modern materials. The aim was to create a distinctive terrace style building that complements its neighbours and is appropriate for its key location.
Inspiration was taken from the art of Ben Nicholson who led the first generation of modern artists in Britain and was a key member of the St Ives School of Moderns. His art and sculpture were heavily influenced by the geometric abstraction movement, and it is this architectural quality and form, along with the cool, harmonious colours and subtle textures within his work that have influenced the design and materials choice for Zinc.
