Testimonials

Acorn has been an excellent partner to the Academy showing flexibility and sensitivity in all our dealings.

We selected them from a strong list of potential buyers for their straightforward and honest approach and we wish them much success in achieving their own ambitions for the Academy site.

We were delighted when planning permission was successfully obtained last year; the fact that it was achieved on program reflects the considerable efforts by Acorn Trinity Square (Julian Hampson and Lucian Grant) put into the community engagement, consideration of our requirements and constraints, and the outstanding design.

Since then they have fully engaged with us and the contractors ensuring clear understanding between all parties. The team have also worked hard to avoid foreseeable problems and overcome the unforeseeable. As a charity taking on a project of this nature, it has been of real benefit working with such diligent and forward-looking developers who have assumed the risk of the project and allowed the charity to maintain and benefit from its investment property holdings.

Once complete, this development will invigorate Trinity Village and will bolster the sustainability and growth of the Trinity House Maritime Charity’s work in support of maritime benevolence, education and safety at sea.

Acorn is a delightful company to work with. Customer care is something which they strongly believe in and this is apparent in everything they do. The developments which they create are beautifully designed with the customer in mind at all times. It is really important to Acorn to recognise how the buyer wants to live in their home and from the flow of the property to the finish and luxury being created, this is apparent.

There is always a willingness from them to work with the buyers every step of the way to create a dream home to be enjoyed and not just lived in. In addition, the Acorn team are a wonderful group of people who know how to have fun and support the local area. From Dragon Boat racing on the Bristol Floating Harbour to supporting local charities, Acorn are a superb team who are always thinking of others ahead of themselves.
Vicky Dudbridge, Director, Savills Bristol
We’re extremely pleased to have worked with Acorn Property Group on a number of projects as their affordable housing partner. As a result of their collaborative approach, we have been able to deliver an increased number of affordable homes in the Bristol area where there is a significant shortage of affordable housing. It has been great to work with their professional and proactive team and we look forward to other opportunities to work together in the future.

AWW has been working with Acorn for over a decade and we share their vision for aspirational design and attention to detail. Acorn has the knack of finding challenging sites and are able to drive the design team to produce excellent award-winning solutions.

AWW gained a planning consent at Loft House a Grade II listed building to covert the former orphanage, to residential use. The building dates back to 1857 and is part of a group of buildings designed for the missionary George Müller to house orphans. Purchased by Acorn soon after consent the apartments were re-looked at, some re-configured and mezzanines added to take advantage of the larger volumes and heights to create exciting and functional apartments.
Philip Bevan, Director and Architect, AWW
We’ve been working with Acorn on Brandon Yard since the early stages of the development process, which has been of great value as it helped us all to ensure that the design submitted for planning was buildable and efficient. From the outset, it was clear that everyone involved in the project wanted to create a truly collaborative working environment, to have fun and enjoy the process. Collaborative working is essential on complex projects of this nature; it promotes openness and a real willingness to overcome challenges without detracting from the quality of the product and its delivery.

Acorn clearly shares our vision to create high-quality buildings and so this enables us to have a relationship that’s open and built on mutual trust. Construction on site is going really well and I believe that that's been helped by our strong working relationship. We are naturally delighted to be involved with this landmark scheme

Lewisham Southwark College is pleased to have sold a parcel of adjoining land to Acorn and it’s been a surprising relief to have experienced such productive working relationships with Acorn.

Not only did Acorn pay a good price but they showed a flexible and collaborative approach as we managed our adjoining development projects. We have enjoyed a remarkable level of mutual trust to the benefit of both our organisations.

I’ve been keeping an eye on the property market in Exeter to be closer to my family, and so, when the chance to move to the St. Leonards Quarter arose, I quickly  decided to grab it with both hands.

They’re putting the finishing touches to it now and not only does it looks great, but I knew I was in good hands with Acorn – the team have looked after me well. What’s more, the business has a strong reputation for creating brilliant new homes. It really was the most straightforward of decisions to move to St. Leonards Quarter and I’m really looking forward to calling it home.

You could call it a ‘no-brainer’ because St Leonard’s is ideally located for me to live near my two children and my lovely grandchildren. Plus, it will be the perfect place for me to immerse myself in the community and make the most of all the wonderful things the area has to offer, such as cycling and walking routes. There are lots of pubs and restaurants in the area as well so there will be plenty of things to do.

There’s a big emphasis on biodiversity across The Old Printworks which is a site that’s been invigorated by Acorn Property Group. The outdoor surroundings are stunning but we’ve also got a super place we call home with a contemporary style and impressive eco-credentials which are important to us.

The Acorn team really helped me find my feet when I first arrived. I hit the ground running in lots of ways and now we’ve not only got a lovely home but it’s also a great place to base my yoga practice. It’s a relaxing, spacious, and airy environment which benefits from enjoying plenty of natural light. There’s even a pathway leading down to the picturesque banks of the River Frome if we want a change of scenery.
Sophie
There was no turning back once we learned of The Old Printworks celebrated past as the first publishers of the iconic Penguin books. It is a real sanctuary and fits in perfectly with the magical atmosphere of Frome and the surrounding area. I’m able to work from home in an office that I’ve set up in our garden which means my commute to work in the morning lasts all of 20 seconds. There’s lots of like-minded people here who are open to exploring new ways to live life to the full.

It felt right to be buying a home at a site being brought back into use and regenerated, rather than a greenfield site. It ticks all the important boxes for us. It’s a quality, contemporary home, but it also boasts impressive sustainability credentials; from use of eco-stock bricks and triple-glazing to the consideration of biodiversity across the site. I was also won over by the styling of the houses and the big windows that mean every room is filled with light. Plus, as a former garden and interior designer, I appreciated how well the architect had maximised the space to give each room a workable layout and lovely flow through the house.

The apartment at The Links ticked all the boxes; newly built, well finished, with great features such as underfloor heating and, most importantly, the most amazing views overlooking the sea. I was looking for work-life balance and could see that this development, in this location, would give me this opportunity, so I went for it.

I couldn’t ask for more from the location, I can catch the waves before or after work, grab the perfect little lunch from the new Rest Bay Café, also with amazing views. And if that wasn’t enough there is also one of the most prestige golf courses in the UK on my doorstep. The thing that really gets me the most is waking up minutes from the most incredible beach, and for this I feel extremely lucky.
Jonny
The specification at Cross Farm is really impressive, we particularly liked the eco-features. The quality of finish in the Show House was excellent and our new home has been just the same.

We had an excellent experience with the Acorn team. The meetings and visits to the Show Home were under the restrictions of lockdown and were really well managed. Any e-mails and telephone messages were dealt with promptly and we were always treated with the upmost respect.

I first saw Cross Farm online, I think as an advert that cropped up in one of my many online searches: it was not even built at that point. What attracted me immediately was the overall design of the scheme and appearance of the individual properties.

While it was clearly modern, a plus point for me, the detailing of the external design was fitting with the broader local architecture: the pitch of the roof, the stone detailing. It all added to creating something that was subtly distinct, but not out of place.

The internal design and specification was also a key point for me. Where the architects might have squeezed in extra rooms, they didn’t, leaving each room feeling spacious and bright. The good quality boiler, underfloor heating and heat exchanger all added up to a quality product.
Damien Lovegrove
The design just jumped out at us, looking quite unique and different to any other new builds we had seen. We were looking at completely different properties previously, none of which were new builds. When we learnt more about Acorn’s vision; the use of responsibly sourced building materials, the wildlife preservation and the communal green areas it persuaded us to visit and we were not disappointed.

It doesn’t seem like ‘just a development’ and will clearly become a nice community for those making a home here. The vision with regards to supporting the environment is so wonderful too. It feels like everyone involved with The Old Printworks, from the Sales Team to the Site Manager, cares about it and is proud of it.

Not only was the project well planned, the same degree of consideration has clearly gone into the layout of the houses: it is perfect for a family, beautifully finished and good quality.

Once the marketing suite opened at The Links I decided to go for it and reserved a sea-facing apartment. It just seemed the right thing to do: the location, the layout. There is nothing to compare to it: I didn’t see the point in looking at other properties, so didn’t.

It seemed to offer everything I was looking for and more. I wanted to be reasonably close to Rob [Kathryn's son] and family. I wanted somewhere that would allow me to take walks and the prospect of a westerly facing sea view, with my own terrace seemed like a dream. I had never lived in an apartment before so that was going to be a first.

Having lived here almost a year I can say it’s like living in a dream. The view, the sunsets. It is all better than I had imagined and the level and specification of the finished product has been spot on.

The community both at The Links and in Rest Bay is lovely. Prior to lock-down, I had been going to local Line Dancing groups three times and week and I love my walks by the sea. An unexpected but really lovely part of being here is my neighbours – we are all very different but have got to know each other very quickly, mainly because of a shared pleasure in living in such a lovely place.

Acorn’s development at Hope House, Bath was the obvious choice for us as buyers. We’d been searching for an apartment in Bath for some time, which was not easy as our main home is in Canada, with an eight hour time difference. On one of our property-hunting trips, we spotted the Acorn hoarding on Lansdown Road. When we contacted the company, we were informed that they had only just acquired the site and so were not yet in a position to give us any marketing materials. However, that did not stop the professional staff at Acorn from trying to help, recognising it would not be easy for us to keep coming back from Canada.

We met with the sales team and the on-site project manager and they were a delight to deal with. When they showed us some of the other Acorn sites in the southwest, the quality of the company’s product was obvious. We committed to a unit right away. It turns out we were the first to buy an apartment at Hope House.

My home at Brandon Yard is my dream home. I never imagined that I’d actually be able to afford something like this as a first time buyer. I love that I can walk out of my front door and be in the heart of the city. I've also started a home Instagram account and I’m getting such great feedback - my most popular posts are the ones that really showcase the building’s industrial features. The windows in particular are a big hit. It’s just great that people seem to love Brandon Yard as much as I do.
Jessica Leung
First and foremost I wanted the property to have a contemporary and high standard of finish. The apartments at Chequers House have that in abundance, with the added attraction of high quality, new build specifications. The apartment has great facilities and a wonderful feeling of space, with high ceilings and large windows giving a light and airy feel.

I had high hopes for my new home. These hopes have been met and exceeded. The apartment is finished to a wonderful standard and is well-positioned to offer a bustling urban setting.

We are really appreciative of the thoughtful design that has gone into our home and the Otters Holt development overall- we have everything we could need under one roof!
Mr & Mrs Doyle
I wanted to live in a new build home and Brandon Yard goes above and beyond my expectations in terms of design and finish. Its character and history add something special – old and new come together to great effect.

Location is a huge part of what makes it for me. The atmosphere on the harbourside is always lively and there is so much to do within walking distance.
Tom Mogridge
After living here for a few days we are even more impressed by the house. It’s perfect. The large bright spacious rooms overlooking the river are beautiful and it’s so quiet too. It’s also a great layout for a young family like ours.

Thank you both so much for all your help with the purchase. We're all so happy in our new Otters Holt home!
Katie Mcgivern
We are delighted to be one of the first to secure a waterfront apartment at the prestigious Acorn development of Brandon Yard. The excellent waterfront position in the centre of the Harbour, yet within walking distance to the City, is ideal.

We are also very impressed with Acorn's excellent integration of heritage and modern design, and the high interior specifications. The location overlooking the SS Great Britain is also very special - 48 years ago I watched the SS Great Britain return to her dock opposite the development, and look forward to watching the 50-year celebrations from my own window!
Mr Slade
We have renovated properties for many years and always looked for a sea view. When we saw Marine Place, we decided that it was everything we were looking for in our dream home thanks to its unique design, the amazing views and its perfect location. I don’t think we ever thought we would purchase a brand new property but it has been amazing. Waking up to that magnificent view and the lapping of the waves certainly make it one of the best decisions we have ever made - who needs to put up pictures when the beautiful scenery changes by the minute?
Dena Mann
The whole sales team have been very professional, friendly and relaxed and they have kept me fully informed throughout the process without excessive contact, which has been very much appreciated.

They have struck the right balance and been very helpful with any queries that I have had and quickly obtained the answers. It has been an enjoyable experience.
Dominic Morgan
An excellent and trouble free experience from start to finish!
Ron Eccles
Our purchase of a house at Marine Place, Clevedon has been one of the best decisions we have made. Not only does it have magnificent, ever-changing views due to its fantastic position overlooking the Bristol Channel, but the house itself is stylish, filled with light, comfortable and energy efficient and provides us with plenty of space for family and friends to stay and enjoy the experience.

Acorn has been extremely helpful not only during the process of buying but also since we moved in, providing lots of information on the build and aftercare as needed.
Yvonne Perry
We chose The Gardens, Hope House as the setting is exceptional, the building design subdued and in keeping with the surroundings and at the same time aesthetically attractive. Being a small development appealed to us with the attraction of facilities offered by the main Hope House development.

Acorn has been very involving by updating with progress regularly. Attention to detail has been second to none from seeing detailed plans, viewing the model at Head Office and having on-site visits.
Nigel Mackintosh
We were looking for a stylish, easy to manage second home with extra large windows to maximise the view of the sea and when we saw Horizon on Rightmove, we thought it matched our needs perfectly.

We had a very good experience buying with Acorn, the team were very helpful and we’re just so pleased to have secured the apartment of our dreams – we love it!
Terry & Hilary Reily
The commercial space we purchased from Acorn provided us with a blank canvas to put our personal stamp on, creating a unique working environment for our businesses and employees.

Having the existing services such as on-site car park, lifts and serviced common areas in the centre of Bournemouth is ideal for our needs and has encouraged us to purchase an additional commercial floor for our future growth.
