Construction Milestone at St. Leonards Quarter, Exeter

September 7, 2023

St. Leonards Quarter in Exeter recently celebrated a momentous milestone in the development of new homes, with a topping out ceremony.

Set just a mile outside of the bustling Exeter city centre,  the first apartment block within the development is now structurally complete as the final brick was laid on the roof as part of the ceremony.

Attending the ceremony were key figures who contributed to the development thus far, including, Grainge Architects and Box Twenty Consulting Engineers and local estate agents, Strutt & Parker.

Construction of St. Leonards Quarter – which comprises 1-to 2- bedroom apartments and 3- to 5- bedroom houses creating a total of 146 new homes across two phases – began in 2022 and has garnered significant interest since launching last year.

Regional Construction Manager at Acorn’s Exeter region Steve Bradley explained, “This ceremony marked a major milestone for Acorn.  St. Leonard’s quarter is our first development in Exeter – the first of a number in the region – and we are proud to be making our mark in the city.”

Ed Lewis, Acorn’s Regional Director for Exeter said: “This scheme epitomises our approach to regeneration of brownfield sites in prominent locations. The apartments at St. Leonards Quarter will offer residents bespoke, modern open-plan living in an area of town where there is great demand. Following the success of the apartments we  look forward to releasing the houses to potential buyers in Autumn this year.”

Situated less than a mile outside of the city centre, and in close proximity to the River Exe, St. Leonards Quarter is exceptionally well-placed to access the vibrant hub of Exeter. The contemporary homes are designed for modern living and many will feature far-reaching views of the Devonian countryside.

The bespoke homes offer a high-quality specification and sustainable design, featuring fitted kitchen with energy-saving appliances, triple glazed windows, EPC rating B, PV panels* and access to landscaped green space.
