Tasha first heard about Canynge Place by Acorn Property Group through a friend who spotted the early signage and quickly realised it could be the right opportunity for her.
“I moved to Clifton Village a year and a half ago and right from the start it felt like home. Originally from Durham, I’ve grown up with that typical northern friendliness where people smile at you, they say hello when you walk past, there’s just that warm community feel. I never really found that until I moved to Clifton. It has that same village atmosphere that I realised I’d been missing, and I immediately felt safe, settled, and part of something.
The only thing was, I never thought I’d be able to buy here straight away and had thought it would be years before I could afford anything in this area.
Then one day, a friend of mine was parking her car nearby and spotted a sign for Canynge Place. She took a photo and shared it with me, saying, ‘This looks perfect for you.’ The moment I saw it, I thought the same. I wasn’t really looking for somewhere to buy at the time, but from then I started to keep an eye on the development – I bookmarked the website, checked it constantly, signed up to all the emails – basically stalked the page until they published the pricing. It was only at that point that I realised this might actually be affordable for me and could actually be a reality and I couldn’t believe it.
I’m a first‑time buyer and being able to buy my first home at the age of 25 is something I’m incredibly grateful for. My deposit comes partly from a small inheritance I was left by my grandparents alongside some savings I had invested into a LISA (Lifetime ISA). I’ve been saving since I was about ten years old. Back then, my dad encouraged me to save whatever I was able to and then once I was old enough to understand money, I took over and just kept putting aside whatever I could. At the time, I had no idea what I was saving for but now I’m so grateful that I did, because it’s made it possible for me to buy here.
Having “stalked” the development, I ended up being one of the very first people through the door, and buying nearly a year ahead of completion. Everything just lined up – the location, the price, the timing – all at once. I wasn’t even looking elsewhere. As soon as I saw Canynge Place, I thought, ‘Yes. That’s it.’ And I still visit the site all the time; I’m pretty sure the builders are going to start recognising me soon!
I chose my particular apartment because it has a little bit of outdoor space. It wasn’t a deal‑breaker, but it definitely nudged it ahead of the others. I’d really like to get a dog one day, so having that outdoor area is perfect.
Now that I’m waiting for move‑in day later this year, I’m having so much fun planning the interiors. I’ve got a full spreadsheet of furniture, costs, ideas. I’m tracking everything because I want this home to feel truly mine. I’ve already mapped out where things will go. There’s a little nook in the kitchen‑living area in my floor plan, and I’m going to put a dining table there with bench seating. I’ve got Pinterest boards, saved photos, mood boards — the lot. I love coming home after a long day and scrolling through ideas, imagining how it will all look. It still feels surreal. Everything has gone so smoothly that part of me is waiting for something to go wrong, but honestly, I think it was just meant to be.
Buying at Canynge Place is more than just finding a flat — it’s securing a home in the one part of Bristol where I finally feel like I truly belong.”
