The new homes in Tempus at Parc Y Coleg in Caerleon, South Wales, are a really special collection of forty-four 1 to 3 bedroom apartments and four 1 to 4 bedroom houses, with plenty of history and character.
As part of our ‘meet the sales team’ series, we caught up with Sarah, our Sales Advisor at Tempus, to discover what makes these unique homes so special. From the beautifully restored Grade II listed buildings – former home to Caerleon College – to the homes’ original character paired with contemporary interiors and views across the Caerleon countryside. Sarah shares what she loves most, her favourite home and why Caerleon is such a wonderful place to live.
1) What do you like about working at Tempus at Parc Y Coleg?
I feel really lucky to be part of the team bringing these buildings back to life. They’re such an important part of Caerleon, so it’s lovely to be here at the start of their next chapter.
I especially enjoy welcoming people into our Grade II listed Marketing Suite and showing them around. You can tell quite quickly when someone starts to picture themselves living here, and that’s always a really nice moment. Every day is different, and it’s very rewarding seeing people discover the development for the first time and fall in love with it.
2) What do you like most about the homes?
For me, it’s the fact that every home feels a little bit different. Because we’re working with the original buildings, no two layouts are the same, so each apartment and house has its own personality.
There are some gorgeous original features too, from the sash windows and high ceilings to the period detailing, and these sit really nicely alongside the contemporary kitchens, bathrooms and finishes.
I think that balance is what makes the homes so special. You still get all that history and character, but with the comfort and ease of a brand-new home.
3) What’s your favourite home and why?
One of my favourites is Apartment 19. It’s the only home in the building with two bay windows, so there’s an incredible amount of natural light, as well as beautiful far-reaching views across the countryside and rolling hills.
It’s really difficult to choose just one though because there are so many exceptional homes! They all benefit from allocated parking, a high-quality specification, plus flooring is included, so you really can move in with everything ready from day one. I’d really recommend coming to take a look for yourself – each home has its own unique features, and you might just find the one that feels perfect for you!
4) Why do you think this is a great place to live?
It’s much more than simply buying a new home. You’re getting the chance to live somewhere that has been part of Caerleon’s story for generations, which is pretty unusual.
I find myself wondering about all the people who might have used those rooms when the building was still part of Caerleon College . There’s so much history within the walls, and I think that gives the apartment a real sense of character that you just don’t get with every new home.
Here’s something you might not know… The buildings at Tempus were used as a filming location in the Netflix series Sex Education, being home to the fictional Moordale High School.
The buildings have such a strong sense of character and make an impression every time you arrive, with the clocktower as a focal point and the main building’s full beauty revealed the closer you get. At the same time the homes themselves have been designed for modern life, with bespoke layouts, high-quality finishes and a focus on low-maintenance
Myself and the team are really looking forward to seeing the community here grow. The landscaped gardens and courtyard areas will be lovely places to bump into a neighbour, stop for a chat or enjoy a coffee. I think it will create a really warm atmosphere.
5) Best things to do in the Caerleon area?
There’s so much to like about Caerleon. It has a lovely atmosphere and a real sense of community, and of course there’s all the Roman history, which makes it such an interesting place to explore.
I love that you’ve got independent shops, cafés, pubs and restaurants close by, such as The Priory Hotel and the Bell at Caerleon, as well as some beautiful countryside when you want to get outdoors. Caerleon also sits at a natural gateway to the Brecon Beacons National Park to the north and the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty to the east.
It has that friendly village feel, but with the convenience of a town where you’re well connected to Newport, Cardiff and Bristol, so you get a nice balance between quieter everyday life and having bigger towns and cities within easy reach.
6) If someone is interested in purchasing, how can you help?
The best thing to do is come and meet the sales team. We offer relaxed, informal appointments in our Marketing Suite, which is set within one of our beautifully finished two-bedroom houses.
It gives you a really good feel for the quality of the specification and the attention to detail throughout the homes. We can also arrange accompanied visits inside the historic buildings, so you can see the spaces for yourself and really appreciate their scale, character and original features.
And if you have a property to sell first, we can talk you through our Assisted Move scheme. It means we can reserve your chosen home for you while helping you find a buyer for your current property, which can make the whole process feel a lot more straightforward – and ensure you don’t miss out on your dream home!
