Green light for new homes in Constantine Bay, Padstow

July 15, 2020

Planning granted for 8 detached houses and 20 Apartments in the hugely desirable Constantine Bay, near Padstow on the North Cornish coast.

Acorn Property Group’s Cornwall office, Acorn Blue has completed on the purchase of the former Treglos Hotel following detailed planning permission being granted in May by Cornwall Council for the second phase of an exciting residential project, delivering twenty-eight new homes in the sought after coastal village of Constantine Bay, four miles west of Padstow.

Following the successful completion of the first phase of new homes at the end of 2019 which saw a 100% rate of sales off plan, Acorn has been given the green light for the second phase and completed on the multi-million pound acquisition earlier this month.

This prime residential development will see the demolition of the derelict Treglos Hotel with the land being transformed to provide twenty luxurious 2 and 3-bedroom apartments, duplexes and penthouses along with eight contemporary 3 and 4-bedroom houses. The development will also provide an essential storage facility for the RNLI to store an IRB lifesaving boat and equipment to allow them to patrol the three nearby beaches of Constantine, Boobys Bay and Treyarnon.

Featuring glorious sea views and a less than 10-minute walk to the golden sands of Constantine Bay Beach, one of the best surfing beaches in North Cornwall, the new homes are also ideally located less than a 5-minute walk from Trevose Golf and Country club.

Lying within the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Constantine Bay is a tranquil retreat surrounded by fantastic beaches and coastal paths to explore but is also close to the bustling port of Padstow, fondly known as the foodie capital of Cornwall, just 4 miles away.

As part of the Section 106 agreement, contributions are being made by Acorn towards public open space, education and local affordable housing. These contributions total in excess of £1,200,000.

Construction is due to start in autumn 2020 with the first homes delivered during winter 2021 and completion expected by summer 2022.

Stuart Brereton MRICS, Regional Managing Director and Land Director for Acorn Blue said: “We have been working with the owners of the Hotel on this project since early 2018. After running the hotel for decades they were very keen to ensure the right design was approved. We are very proud of the consented scheme, which is a result of consultations with local groups, Cornwall Design Review Panel and working with award-winning Cornwall based architects PBWC and Cornwall Planning Department. Following the huge success of the first phase, we expect this to be a flagship development for Acorn Blue and look forward to starting work on it in the very near future”.
