Marathon runner chooses Loft House for city home with a park life

November 8, 2018

Keen long-distance runner Elisabeth Merrett is combining city bustle with an urban park for her new Bristol home. Having lived in the Stokes Croft area of the city for 11 years, the self-employed businesswoman wanted the convenience of city living but with some green space on her doorstep and has opted for an apartment at Loft House in Bishopston.

Elisabeth felt that nearby St Andrew’s park combined with easy access to the amenities of Gloucester Road, and its eclectic mix of independent shops, presented the right pace of home life. Having enjoyed the hustle and bustle of Stokes Croft access to a green outdoor space will be an added benefit.  She commented: “I’m looking forward to being able to run in the park as well as meet up with friends.”

Loft House is the conversion of a former Grade II listed building into sixty 1, 2 and 3-bedroom apartments, duplexes and houses with parking and it was the mixture of old and contemporary features which also appealed to Elisabeth. “I had been thinking of moving for a while and was torn between the convenience and luxury of a new build and the character and period features of an older property.

“The Loft House development was exactly what I was looking for, a beautiful, Grade II listed building with large sash windows and high ceilings but with a thoughtfully designed interior.”  Original features such as roof trusses, ornate ironwork grilles, window panelling and built-in cupboards have been restored or replaced, as have the historic stone walls.

The interior design, by David Hutton, an award-winning interior design company based in Bristol, takes its influence from the original Victorian features and incorporates all the features you would expect from a modern home.

Residents at Loft House also have access to two landscaped communal courtyards and Gloucester Road provides a mix of independent shops, cafés, bars and restaurants just a 10 minute walk away.

Elisabeth, who has completed two marathons and has more in the pipeline, will be moving into her new home later this year.

Loft House is now 90% sold, so contact us to avoid disappointment!
