Meet the Team at Brooks Dye Works

September 3, 2020

As part of our ‘Meet the Team’ series, we’d like to introduce you to Catherine and Amy, our brilliant Sales Negotiators at our new Brooks Dye Works development in Bristol. Located in the vibrant and bustling area of St Werburghs, Catherine and Amy chat to us about their favourite aspects of the new homes, buying off plan and some of the best places to visit in the local area.

1) What do you like about working at Brooks Dye Works?
Catherine: I really like the project itself which is transforming a derelict brownfield site into a contemporary, sustainable development in a fantastic central area of Bristol. It’s great to see this historic site being given a new lease of life.

Amy: I love the multi-cultural location and the bohemian shops and eateries close by. What I most admire though, is the history behind the site. The Brooks Dye Works factory provided Bristolians with a range of great dyeing, cleaning and ironing facilities for more than 130 years and it’s fantastic that the iconic landmark chimney is staying.

2) What do you like most about the homes being built?
Catherine: The sustainability of the homes is something I really care about. At Acorn our ‘fabric-first’ approach puts emphasis on reducing our carbon footprint and lowering energy bills through the sustainable materials used in the build of the homes. In addition, there is no shortage of green space around including improved access to the adjacent Mina Park.

Amy: The houses being built are stunning and offer real diversity for the modern day purchaser. There are a variety of layouts to suit many lifestyles and the fact that there will be an extension to Mina Park is fantastic.

3) What’s your favourite home and why?
Catherine: My favourite home would have to be types A or B mainly because I love the raised terraces and the flexible, modern living space.

Amy: I love type A, Plot 9. This end-terrace home is situated on the first floor with a south-facing terrace. The ceilings on level 3 are vaulted and it just feels so spacious, with lots of natural light filling the home.

4) Why do you think this is a great place to live?
Catherine: There is lots going on in this part of Bristol – there are many local independent shops, bars and restaurants to choose from, each with a unique identity and something different to offer.

Amy: It’s really close to the city centre and there is a lot to do locally. There are plenty of places to eat and drink locally – Gloucester Road being a great spot and only a 10-minute walk from Brooks Dye Works. The local area is well served by schools with the outstanding Fairfield High School is just under a 20-minute walk away. The City Farm is also very close where children can go and feed the animals after school hours and transport links are fantastic for commuting with Montpelier Train Station on your doorstep.

5) Best things to do in St Werburghs and nearby?
Catherine: There are so many! I love getting a takeaway lunch from Mina Road, visiting the City Farm and walking to Gloucester Road. Not to mention it’s great having access to the city centre within less than a 15 minute walk.

Amy: If you’re super active then you’ll want to visit The Climbing Academy’s indoor rock climbing centre, which actually used to be a former church. If you like a challenge then Puzzlair is close by where you get assigned a mission to complete and have to escape from a locked room. If you are a keen cyclist, you can hop on the Bristol to Bath cycle path.

6) If someone is interested in purchasing how can you help?

Catherine: We really enjoy supporting people in their ‘buying a new home’ journey. A first time buyer will have different needs and concerns than a family wanting to downsize or upsize would, so we can tailor our support accordingly. A limited number of homes at Brooks Dye Works can be reserved with a 5% deposit on the Government backed Help to Buy scheme which is a great way for first time buyers to get onto the property ladder, as well as existing homeowners, wanting to take a step up the ladder.

Amy: We are based on site in the Marketing Suite from Monday to Saturday, and on hand to help you in your property search. Here we have specification examples that we can show you as well as a fully fitted kitchen and bath/shower room. This will really help when purchasing off plan.

If you would like more information on the homes at Brooks Dye Works please call us on 0117 405 4002 or email brooksdyeworks@acornpg.org. Alternatively, our Show Home is open Monday to Saturday, 9:30am – 5pm, or by appointment on Sunday, where our dedicated team are on hand to answer any questions you may have.
