Meet the Team at The Old Printworks

July 5, 2021

Quirky independent shops, picturesque Somerset countryside, and a strong sense of community – just some of the reasons that make Frome such an attractive destination. Recently named by The Times as the ‘South West’s Best Place to Live 2021’, in our latest blog we chat with our team at The Old Printworks about their favourite features of the new homes and what makes this thriving Somerset town such a great place to live.

1) What do you like about working at The Old Printworks?

Fran: I like the fresh approach to homes that Acorn brings, building better and more sustainable properties. It feels new and exciting and is great to be a part of.

Helyn: The location is brilliant – I love showing customers what we have to offer here. It’s great that the development appeals to so many different people whatever their reason for moving, there is something to suit everyone.

Katie: For me, I love that the site has so much history, having been the former Butler and Tanner Printers and that so many locals have a positive affiliation towards it. The development has reinterpreted the original building into a range of high-quality homes which is a wonderful progression that I am proud to be part of.

2) What do you like most about the homes being built?

Fran: I notice the difference in the Acorn build, the extra height in the ceilings, the high-quality bathrooms etc. All the homes and landscaping feel above and beyond most new build developments.

Helyn: I love the designs, especially the oversized windows and sliding doors. The specification is above what you would normally expect, offering so much more for your money.

Katie: I like that so much thought has gone into the fabric of the buildings, the materials used, enhancing sustainability, reducing carbon footprint and being so energy efficient. As well as the buildings sitting so comfortably in the local community and the incredible sense of light open space and luxury.

3) What’s your favourite home and why?

Fran: It has to be our 4 bedroom T8 style. The open plan living space sells the whole house to me – and having the separate living space on the first floor give so may options.

Helyn: For me, it must be our 3 bedroom T7. The design is so versatile, it could easily incorporate a nursery or little kitchenette for multigeneration living. The best feature for me is the infinity balcony on the door of bedroom 1 which you can open to enjoy lovely views from – ideal on a hot summer’s evening!

Katie:  My favourite would have to be the T2 style 2 bedroom houses, with generous gardens with sliding doors from the living area giving a real sense of space and openness. Perfect for someone looking to downsize or buy their first home.

4) Why do you think this is a great place to live?

Fran: Frome is such a vibrant and artisan place to live, and I think The Old Printworks has the same vibe, it sits perfectly within the town.

Helyn: You are so close to Frome train station and the town should you wish to walk into the centre. The fact that the development has 1.5 acres of public open space demonstrates that Acorn is a sympathetic developer who cares for the environment.

Katie: There is already a community forming which is wonderful to see. As part of the development, it has been confirmed that there will have a convenience store on-site, encouraging people to shop locally. As well as this, there will be large open green spaces providing a real hub for gathering and socialising.

5) Best things to do in Frome and nearby?

Fran: Browse around the beautiful independent shops and local businesses, Frome has so much to offer.

Helyn: I agree, the shopping is great here. Frome has the only independent town council in the UK, and this really shows with all the independent shops on offer. The theatres are also very appealing, and The Cheese & Grain is a great venue for live music which I love and can’t wait to see my favourite bands again when everything reopens fully.

Katie: For me, it has to be the Frome Market. When the roads close and the streets are buzzing with live music and you can wonder through the independent local food and drink producers, vintage clothing and eclectic furniture stalls and then pop into the Archangel for a delicious lunch.

6) If someone is interested in purchasing how can you help?

Fran: We are here to help and guide our customers without pressure. Sometimes it’s hard to know exactly what you want, and moving house can feel overwhelming, but we’re here to make the process as stress-free as possible.

Helyn: We have two fabulous Show Homes which really demonstrate the high-quality specification on offer. If you have a property to sell, our Assisted Move scheme is in place so you can reserve your new home with us and we will help sell your current property – making it as stress-free as possible.  If you are a first-time buyer, we also have a selection of apartments and houses available to reserve with a 5% deposit on Help to Buy.

Katie: We can show customers around our beautiful Show Homes, which really do speak for themselves and the excellent standard that sets The Old Printworks apart. We get to know our customers to understand how they live and what they’re looking for, guiding them through the process, and making them feel confident that they are buying a very special home here.

Phase 1 at The Old Printworks is now over 85% sold. Our Show Homes are open by appointment. Get in touch with our team on 01373 888 303 to book your visit.
