Acorn Property Group’s Devon and Cornwall office, Acorn Blue, has achieved full planning approval for the redevelopment of the Grade II listed Oliver Buildings adjacent to the River Taw in Barnstaple.
Following local support and a unanimous decision from North Devon Council committee members, whose sentiment was ‘let’s get it done’, the mixed-use scheme which is the last piece of the Anchorwood Bank regeneration puzzle, will feature forty-seven new apartments, shops, restaurants and commercial space becoming a destination for people to live, work and play.
As well as carefully restoring the listed building back to its former glory, the prime riverside development will also feature a new four-storey building which will accommodate both residential and commercial space. Being able to provide high quality public open space has also been a focus of the scheme and sees the creation of green space as well as a piazza which the new community will thrive around.
Andrew Strathdee, Development Director of Acorn Blue said “We have been working on this site over the past two years and are thrilled to see it gain planning approval with such support from the committee and local residents. We are hopeful that works will begin on-site in the autumn and look forward to transforming a derelict piece of land into a destination for new residents, businesses and visitors”.
