Meet the Team at The Courtyard

April 7, 2022

Overlooking a sheltered beach and private woodland in the south of Cornwall, our coastal development, The Courtyard at Duporth offers an oasis of calm, exclusively for over 55’s. Having lived and worked in Cornwall for many years, we catch up with Heather and Debbie, our Sales team at The Courtyard, about their favourite aspects of the new homes and why this tranquil coastal spot is worth considering for your next move.

1) What do you like about working at The Courtyard?

Heather: There is a real sense of community building among the new residents, they really are creating a lovely neighbourhood between them. Residents have access to a communal landscaped courtyard which looks stunning against the clock tower and is a great spot to sit out during the warmer months, it’s a very peaceful development.

Debbie: The great thing about working at The Courtyard is that it is in the middle of a real Cornish community. The homes are located just one mile from Charlestown which is a UNESCO protected site with lots of history and not to mention, the home of Poldark!

2) What do you like most about the homes being built?

Heather: I love the variety of features in the conversions and new build homes overlooking the clock tower.  I particularly like the Bay View houses which offer wonderful views out to sea.

Debbie: It’s great that we can give our buyers a real sense of choice. There are several styles on offer, from the stone farmhouses to the more contemporary sea view apartments, each with a range of different features. The homes are all new builds meaning maintenance is lower, ideal for over 55s who want to spend more time outside exploring all that Cornwall has to offer.

3) What’s your favourite home and why?

Heather: Mine would have to be the Bay View houses. Overlooking the private woodland and across St Austell Bay, these homes definitely make the most of the views! The design layout really maximises the use of inside space, with flexible open plan living, and even a separate study to each home.

Debbie: For me it has to be the Farm Buildings as they look out onto the clock tower and communal courtyard, two standout features of the development. I love the quirky charm they have, as homes which have been converted from the original stone building.

4) Why do you think this is a great place to live?

Heather: The Courtyard offers a bit of everything, with access to private woodland and a sheltered beach, the homes are ideal for those who want to be close to nature but if want to explore, you are on a bus route and close to the main town of St Austell with all its amenities.

Debbie: The site is rooted in Cornish heritage and as a development exclusively for over 55s, it’s great to see a new community growing among such beautiful surroundings. There’s nothing quite like having a beach right on your doorstep either!

5) Best things to do in Duporth and nearby?

Heather: Walk down to the beach with the dog, wild swim or kayak, or simply just chill there and have a picnic – the opportunities are endless. You can walk to Charlestown in roughly 15 minutes and experience the historical fishing port and culinary delights in Poldark’s now legendary setting. In the spring/summer months, Charlestown Harbour organise sailing trips on huge vessels which looks like an amazing experience if you want to be transported back in time!

Debbie: Being on the south coast of Cornwall, there are many lovely Cornish towns and beaches around, so you’ll never be at a loss of somewhere new to explore. You can get to Porthpean Beach and Carlyon Bay in just under 10-minutes by car, two lovely beaches boasting golden sand.

6) If someone is interested in purchasing, how can you help?

Heather: We can guide you through the whole sales process right from reservation to completion.  If you have a home to sell before you are in a position to move, our Assisted Move scheme allows you to reserve your new home with us while we work with your chosen estate agent to find a buyer for your existing property. In addition, we can put you in touch with an independent financial advisor if this is something you require.

Debbie: Myself and Heather both know Cornwall really well which certainly helps if customers are new to the area. We can walk you through the entire sales process to ensure its as stress-free as possible, offering our expertise and guidance every step of the way.
