The Old Printworks writes a new chapter for Frome

November 27, 2023

The Old Printworks writes a new chapter for Frome in the place where Penguin first began publishing books, and a bustling community has been created. Here are some of the reasons we think moving to The Old Printworks is a great idea…

Location, location, location

Nestled against the evergreen Frome riverbank, The Old Printworks takes its place on the site of the former Butler, Tanner and Dennis printing works.

The proximity to the centre of Frome has been a huge draw for buyers. Recently coined ‘one of the trendiest towns in the country’ by Hanisha Sethi, writing for the Daily Express, Frome delivers on the practicalities of life, but does so with winding cobbled streets and the artisan quarter of St Catherine’s, awash with independent traders and cafes.

All this, and just 13 miles south of Bath.

Live, work, play

The joy of living at The Old Printworks goes above and beyond its geography. The new homes – a mixture of 2, 3 and 4 bedroom houses and apartments – are bespoke and design-led.

Here, the focus has been on the use of quality materials and the ability to frame views of the local landscape and flood the property with light.

The properties lend themselves in many cases to working from home. In fact, the development is proving to be a magnet for people who run their own businesses, many of which are in keeping with the creative and alternative nature of the town.

Health coach Ali is one local entrepreneur, who lives and works at the scheme.

Ali, who used to work in corporate communications, now runs her own business helping people make positive health and lifestyle choices.

“We’d checked out a fair few places as we wanted to move to the South West. It was ultimately the vibrant street market that confirmed Frome was THE place for us. It had a positive atmosphere. And it was clear it would be a good place for my business to be based as there’s a strong emphasis on collaboration.

“Both professionally and personally, living in Frome works for me and we love our home.”

The next chapter

The third and final phase of The Old Printworks development is now released for sale.

These houses have an EPC ‘A’ rating and will be fitted with solar panels as standard. The apartments are EPC B rating and each feature beautiful balconies with views of green open space. Each apartment also comes equipped with the infrastructure for EV charging.
